New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees needs surgery on injured right thumb

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will undergo surgery to repair the ligament in his thumb and may miss six months, NFL Network reported.
Teddy Bridgewater will step into the starting role this weekend in Seattle.
After getting knocked from the team’s loss night brees said on Sunday that he saw a hand specialist at Los Angeles.
“Yeah, I’m concerned,” said Brees, who wore a brace on the thumb postgame. “I am hoping it is not too important.”
Brees said in the time although he had X-rays claimed not to know whether it was a ligament or bone issue.
“I am hoping for the best and only preparing for whatever the upcoming steps might be,” he said.
Brees hit his right hand on Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald’s right hand while following through to an incomplete pass to Jared Cook on third-and-8 midway. He had been found struggling to pick up a ball, and then had the thumb.
“Right away, when he attempted to throw, he also had been having trouble with it. It wasn’t anything elaborate,” coach Sean Payton said in his postgame press conference.
“We will provide you an update when the time is ”
Bridgewater entered remaining in the initial quarter. He moved 17 of 30 for 165 yards as the Saints dropped 27-9.
Before departing brees started the match 3 of 5 for 38 yards and an interception.
He came from the locker room after halftime with the tape off of his hand and having a helmet on, but did not enter then was re-taped.
Even the 40-year-old has missed only one game due to injury since joining the Saints in 2006, which came because of a shoulder issue in 2015.
He’s missed two additional competitions using all the Saints of a potential 210 while resting together with the team’s playoff position in Week 17 protected.
The league’s all-time leading passer needs 155 yards to become the first in NFL history to pass for 75,000 metres.
